Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon baking powder¼ cup vegetable oil or melted butter¾ cup warm water

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking powder.
    Add vegetable oil and mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
    Gradually add warm water, stirring until a dough forms.
    Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
    Divide into 8 balls and let rest for 15 minutes.
    Roll each ball into a thin round tortilla.
    Heat a dry skillet over medium heat and cook each tortilla for 30 seconds per side until golden brown and puffed.
    Keep warm in a clean towel and serve fresh.

  • Use warm water for a softer dough.
  • Let the dough rest to make rolling easier.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a skillet.
  • At room temperature: Store tortillas in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze: Wrap tortillas in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before reheating.
  • Whole wheat flour: Substitute up to half the all-purpose flour for a healthier option.
  • Butter: Use melted butter instead of vegetable oil for a richer flavor.
